A workshop process exploring the use of EEG sensor technology in performance sound design.
The process of turning brainwaves into responsive soundscapes can be used to create a sense of mindfulness and self-awareness. We used EEG technology to generate data based on an actor's brainwaves while she was performing text, then used that data to create a responsive soundtrack generated in real-time, that emulated the character's psychological journey.
The audience listen to this through headphones mixed with the actor's voice as she performs the play. The effect is a powerful and immersive experience, taking the audience deeper into the experience of character and performer.
